After Acne Serum helps target common skin concerns of those who have previously battled with acne including:
- acne prone skin
- mild, occasional breakouts
- scarring from previous breakouts
- uneven skin tone and/or hyperpigmentation.
What makes the After Acne serum so awesome …
After you’ve got your acne under control, it’s time to repair any damage or symptoms that might be left behind from a long-term fight with acne! You still have acne prone skin to consider while tackling symptoms such as residual redness, enlarged pores, a blotchy complexion and acne scars. That’s where the Acne Repair line comes in. If you're looking for a complete kit that includes this serum, head over to the Acne Repair Kit.
The After Acne Serum is a concentrated dose of natural healing ingredients that have one goal in mind: make any signs or symptoms of acne a thing of the past! Specifically, the serum targets hyperpigmentation (uneven skin tone, redness, blotchiness), rough/uneven texture, mild/occasional breakouts, scarring from previous breakouts, enlarged pores, and inflammation.
I don’t believe in adding more products into your skin care routine then needed, so you might be wondering why I’ve added serums to my line!
First off, I use them all the time! Why? Because serums are liquid tonics that are packed with vitamins, anti-oxidants and natural ingredients that contain active properties that target specific concerns. So if there’s something specific you want to work on, serums are an easy way to add some extra oomph to your routine!
Secondly, serums are formulated to penetrate deep into your skin so they can heal and target specific concerns. They are able to penetrate deeper than moisturizers and can help restore skin to a balanced state (and isn’t that the point?). Plus, they are non-comedogenic, so no need to worry about clogged pores or a greasy residue.
But I already use a moisturizer! Why add a serum?
Although serums can be hydrating (my Hydration Serum is designed to do just that!), their main purpose is to add nutrients deep into your skin that a moisturizer isn’t able to reach. However, keep your moisturizer in your routine! Applying your moisturizer after you apply a serum will lock the serum into your skin allowing the serum to do its best work without evaporating into the air.
How to use serums
: Apply your serum after applying your mist (if you’re using one), and before your moisturizer. While moisturizers help lock serums into your skin, serums help lock mists into your skin! You don’t have to wait for the mist to fully absorb before applying your serum. But you should wait a few minutes between applying your serum and moisturizer.
: Apply any time after you wash your face
: Since serums are hydrating, they can be a great alternative to a thick moisturizer during the hottest most humid days of summer! Skip the moisturizer during the day and opt to use it at night instead.
: During the winter, our skin needs extra help staying hydrated and protected from the elements. So, layer up your protection by using a mist, serum and moisturizer before heading out into the cold (or spending a lot of time in the dry indoor air!).

This serum was very calming and gentle on my skin. I almost rated it 4 stars simply because of the bright orange colour from the carrot extract, but if used before bed, this is not a huge problem. When I wake up my skin is no longer orange and is very soft and redness is reduced. I have very pale skin with a lot of acne scars and although this is no overnight miracle, I can certainly tell that it helps.
After using this for a couple of nights, I did notice an improvement in softness and even some lightened scars, but using this serum has proven difficult. It does come out very orange, and because it does not dry, I found it hard to sleep with because I was so worried about getting it on my sheets and clothes. I did lay a towel down but still managed to get some of it on my beige sheets, which isn't a big deal but just inconvenient. I tried using it with cystic acne mask as Batty recommended-- I think it helped but it still didn't dry the serum entirely. I'm going to keep using it because I think the results will be worth it, but I just wish it were a bit more practical.
I never thought I'd have baby soft, smooth, calm skin until I started using this serum! I've noticed the redness from old pimples has diminished A LOT and continues to look better every week! I have very pale skin naturally so any bit of redness or uneven tone really stands out. Finally I'm getting back to having an even skin tone and not having to live with all the left over damage from bad breakouts. I've been using this serum for about two months now. I apply it every evening after washing my face. Some times I apply the hydra gel over top (when I use two or three pumps of serum) or when I use one pump of serum, I don't bother putting anything over top. Batty suggested putting a moisturizer over top when using a little bit of serum so I'm going to try that soon. But even without trying that yet, I'm loving this serum!!! THank you BATTY!!!
I was going to give this product two stars, but I honestly gave the serum a whirl last night and I found my skin really did benefit from the amazing ingredients in it. My problem is the colour. The first time I put it on my skin, it came out carrot orange. I was so freaked out, I washed it off. I tried it again a few nights later, gave it three hours to absorb (but it was still pretty orange after all that time), and then put moisturizer over top hoping to seal it in. I tested it on a towel to see if it would rub off and it did, so I had to wash it off or risk ruining my pillowcases. If you want to give this serum a try for its beneficial ingredients, make sure you protect your sheets! --------------------------------------------- Batty's Notes: Applying Hydra Healing Gel or Cystic Acne Mask over top of this serum will seal it in - the Gel & Mask both dry into a clear coating that keeps any of the serum from rubbing off. That's your best bet for keeping the serum on your face while it absorbs throughout the night. And like Lin said, it's a good idea to put a towel over your pillowcase just incase. P.s. the orange tint comes from organic sea buckthorn oil & organic carrot seed oil.
