New to Bar Shampoo? Here’s why you should use a vinegar rinse.

A vinegar rinse helps "newbies" adjust to shampoo bars by removing any soapy build up. It usually takes 2- 4 weeks for people to adjust to using shampoo bars rather than liquid shampoo (although I make that too! Click here for the liquid shampoo). The amount of adjustment time required is based on a number of elements; scalp health, previously used products, how much oil your scalp produces, medication, diet, hormone levels and even the type of water you have (i.e. hard water vs soft). If it takes longer than 4 weeks, just stay patient. Like your skin, there may be a healing process involved, but it will get there.

For the seasoned shampoo bar users, a vinegar rinse once in a while is a great way to give you shine, less tangles, and a healthier scalp.

Vinegar Rinse Recipe:

  1. Add 1 cup vinegar to 2 cups warm water
  2. Add a drop of essential oil if you like
  3. Work into hair.

Don't worry, you'll smell like vinegar but ONLY until your hair dries! After it dries, no more vinegar smell! You can rinse out the vinegar rinse mix or you can leave it in! The benefits of leaving it in is that you'll have less tangles and helps if you have an itchy scalp!

How to use our Tresses to Toes CP Soap on your hair:

  1. Make sure you get your hair good and wet. This will help with the lather.
  2. Remember a little goes a long way. Focus your lather on the roots, and don't worry about the ends of your hair. Enough soap will work it's way down through the ends to ensure its clean too.
  3. Rinse well with luke-warm water.

What's the Difference Between Handcrafted Soap and "Commercial" Soap?

Commercial soaps are manufactured in large factories (often located overseas) staffed with anonymous employees, using the most economical ingredients. Often they contain some or all synthetic detergents; most have the glycerin removed.

Batty's handcrafted soaps, on the other hand, are manufactured locally in small batches with the personal oversight and care of long-time soapmaker, Batty. Batty makes use of high-quality ingredients including specialty oils and botanical additives to personalize her formulations.

The creative artistry of Batty results in soaps that are different and unique, offering you a wide selection of soaps that are not only natural, but functional and beautiful as well.

How to Make Your Soap Bars Last

Once you've tried handmade soap you want every silky skin loving bubble to last! Thankfully I won't stop making handmade soap any time soon BUT I know you want each and every bar to last even longer than they already do! No problem! Here's a few tips on how to make them last!

  • Don't leave your handmade soap in the tub while you're soaking in the tub.
  • Make sure your handmade soap isn't in the water stream – keep it in a corner of the shower or tub where it won't be constantly hit by water.
  • Use a soap dish that provides appropriate drainage so your soap bar can completely dry out between uses.
  • Rub your soap bar onto a wash cloth & use that to get clean rather than rubbing the soap bar right onto your body.
  • Keep your soap bars in their packaging, in a cool dry place until you're ready to use them.
  • Consider cutting your soap bars in half and only putting one-half in the shower at a time.

Great all around soap
4 Stars

I love this soap! I recently completed a cross country bike ride and this was the only soap I brought with me for both my body and hair...it is amazing. I did not give it 5 stars because of the scent. I only use unscented products but this soap has some scent, maybe lavender, that I really don't like. To be perfect, it would have to be scent free.

Time saver!
5 Stars

I have been using this for camping trips and vacations...saves space when packing and time when showering! I use it on my hair, face and body so I only need to pack conditioner and face lotion to complete my bathroom bag! Easy peasy. Batty's products are such high quality products. I only WISH I had these sooner!

Great travel bar!
4 Stars

Last year, we moved 6.5 hours from our home. Because we travel back often to visit family and friends, throwing this bar in my suitcase, saves not only time showering but space in my bag. I'm not sure how it would work on a regular basis, without a conditioner, but time will tell! It works very well.

A Great Shampoo Bar
5 Stars

I bought this soap exclusively for hair use, and I must say, I am very impressed. I love the blend of smells. The rosemary, tea tree, and peppermint combination are to die for, and I find myself getting a whiff of peppermint one time and rosemary the next. Almost like using a new soap every time! My hair is also very content with this "shampoo" alternative. I was so used to using conditioner after washing my hair all the time, but the soap really helps to clean it without drying it out - very different than what I was used to! I find using a shampoo bar more cost effective than using liquid shampoo as I tend to use a bit too much liquid shampoo every time, but with this, I rub it in until I'm satisfied and clean. Definitely a great alternative and highly recommended.

My new travel & camping companion!
5 Stars

I've looked everywhere for a good shampoo bar for travelling and camping. Solid toiletries mean no spills in your luggage and they last so much longer! Tresses to toes leaves my straight, shoulder length hair soft with good volume. I also use it from head to toe in the shower or bath and it's slippery enough to shave with, too! Honestly, this is a perfect all in one product!

Using primarily as a shampoo
5 Stars

I am in the process of making the change over to all natural products. I have type 2b-c wavy hair and am trying to embrace styling my curls naturally. I absolutely love this soap. It smells great and feels great when I use it on my scalp. I do follow-up with an apple cider rinse and my hair is happy and shiny when I am done. It is making life so easy (especially for travel). If you are used to traditional shampoos, this might be a little out there for you at first, but I am in love with the simplicity of my new routine.

used it for everything!
